This creative research was conducted to serve 3 objectives: 1) to examine characters of plants in a school botanical garden for designing and creating 3D gilding patterns on multicolor lacquer (Lai Kammalor) in the collection named Pan Mai Lai Tong, 2) to design a collection of 3D gilding patterns on multicolor lacquer named Pan Mai Lai Tong, and 3) to create a collection of 3D gilding patterns on multicolor lacquer named Pan Mai Lai Tong. The examination was done to the plants in the area of “Piboonbumpen” Demonstration School, Burapha University. An artistic technique together with modern materials were used for the creation. The findings were as follows. 

1. The creation of the patterns was inspired by three plants namely Golden Shower, Bodhi and lignum vitae. The examination was done to different organs of the plants (root, trunk, branch, stalk, flower, fruit, and seed), and they all could be used to create the patterns perfectly. 

2. Three pieces of work were created inspired by the characters of the different organs of the plants and the creation was based on visual art principle consisted of visual elements, composition, theory of color, and artistic convention of gilding on multicolor lacquer (Lai Kammalor). 

3. The 3D gilding pattern creation was relied on Lai Kammalor convention but modern materials and various techniques were applied into the process. The outcomes were a collection of unique and contemporary 3D gilding patterns on multicolor lacquer.
